Description:
The Restu Foundation is honoured to introduce to those who follow the Path of Allah and those who seek to follow His Path this beautiful translation of the Qur’an.
This translation is the work of the late Mufti of Penang state in Malaysia al-Hafiz Ghulam Sarwar, who was a reputable scholar and an Imām with deep and capacious knowledge of Islam.
Mufti Ghulam was born on 29 December 1873 and died in Malaysia on 13 December 1954. He served as a Mufti of Penang, district Judge, Imām of Masjid Jalan Hatin, and Imām of Patistar Mosque. Besides this translation, Mufti Ghulam left behind him many translated and written books in English, Persian and Urdu on various Islamic topics.
He concluded translating the Qur’an while he was in London, and had his son Siddiq Faroq to publish it in England in 1928. Mufti Ghulam was a close friend of the well-known Abdullah Yusuf Ali, and they used to meet frequently to exchange views. The current translation of Mufti Ghulam was mentioned by Abdullah Yusuf Ali as one of the sources that he used when translating the Qur’an.
The work was never reprinted after that because the Arabic text had not been included. Therefore, in acknowledgement of the efforts of this reputable Malaysian scholar, and for educating Muslims, the Restu foundation has embarked on the mission of reproducing this work with the support of Tan Sri Khalid Sulaiman, grandson of Mufti Ghulam.
The work was carried out at Selangor Islamic Art Complex Centre of the Restu foundation. The Arabic text was hand written by highly skilled calligraphists — a process that took several years to accomplish. The beautiful decorated borders were designed and coloured manually by artists from the same foundation. The English translation was thoroughly edited by Mr. Duraid G. Fatouhi, an Iraqi author and Islamic scholar who has published many Islamic books, including two Arabic-English dictionaries of the Qur’an.
The Restu foundation has long taken on itself the honour and responsibility to publish the Holy Qur’an in as many languages as possible. The current translation is another one to be added to several other translations already published. The foundation is also well known for its Islamic artwork of calligraphy, natural colour art, sculpture, craft, hand made facsimile and Islamic seals. The foundation is the only Islamic centre in the region, if not in the Islamic world, that has a college dedicated to Islamic art and is recognized by the ministry of higher education in Malaysia.
The Restu foundation wishes to extend its thanks to all those who supported this project from the beginning and helped in making it see the light, including Tan Sri Khalid Sulaiman and Tahirah Sulaiman, grandchildren of Mufti Ghulam Sarwar; and their relatives.
We also wish to express our gratitude to the members of Restu committee for their help in proofreading the English text and for their valuable comments and feedbacks especially the Late Dr. Uthman El-Muhammady who carried the final proofreading of the work.
May Allah Almighty accept this humble work and enlighten with it the hearts of mankind in order that they follow His Wise Words and His Straight Path.

Al-Qur’An Mushaf Malaysia & Terjemahan (BM)

Penerangan:

Pembudayaan al-Qur’an melalui pemahaman makna al-Qur’an juga menjadi tujuan utama daripada usaha pembinaan manuskrip Al-Qur’an Mushaf Malaysia.

Cetakan: Kulit Keras (Biru & Kuning) / Kulit Lembut (Hijau & Ungu)
